Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, And...
The Uninvited is the typical horror-thriller style movie. It has a good set of characters, an intriguing plot and an absolutely crazy ending. It makes for a very entertaining movie for the lay person to enjoy, but what if someone looks deeper into the movie? This movie is full of twists, turns, and psychological disorders. The main character in the movie, Anna, witnessed her mother dying. From this tragic event, she developed multiple psychological disorders. The main three that this paper will be elaborating on are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Dissociative Identity Disorder. All three of these are very serious, but all in there own way. First, there is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as PTSD. This is a disease that develops after a terrible event happens in the victimââ¬â¢s life. Some of the main symptoms of PTSD include reliving the incident, including flashbacks, nightmares and triggers, avoiding the situation including places and other incident s where they face similar situations, and feeling keyed up, including having a hard time concentrating and sleeping (Besser 2015). In the movie, the main character, Anna, watches her familyââ¬â¢s boathouse explode, killing her mother. This is a tragic event that stuck in her. This event caused her to have PTSD. Describe How to Establish Respectful free essay sample
Listening is arguably the most important way in which to establish a respectful and professional relationship with a child or young person. By a TA listening to what a child has to say, without interruption, conveys to the child that the TA in interested in and values what the child has to say. By not interrupting the child, it shows that their views and opinions are not only respected by the TA, but are also as important as the views and opinions of the TA themselves. The TA should also take an active interest in what the child has to say and an interest in the child themselves. For example, what are their hobbies, their interests, their likes and dislikes? When talking with, or listening to children, the TA should maintain eye contact, concentrate on what the child is saying and physically lower themselves to the childââ¬â¢s level, thus giving the child the same respect that they would give to another adult. This shows the child that they are considered an equal by the TA. Children respond to routine and rules and should be made aware of what the rules are and the consequences of breaking rules.By doing this, it enables the TA to explain to the child that the punishment they have received for breaking a rule ââ¬Ëis fairââ¬â¢. Fairness helps to establish respectful relationships. Children are very aware of the concept of fairness and the statement ââ¬Ëitââ¬â¢s not fairââ¬â¢ is often heard within the classroom. Another way of showing ââ¬Ëfairnessââ¬â¢ in response to a rule break, is giving the child an opportunity to explain. Allowing a child to explain their version of events shows that the TA is willing to listen to what the child has to say. The TA should then explain why they believe a rule has been broken and the ecessary punishment. The TA should always adhere to the schools behavior policy and follow through with punishments. By doing this, the TA communicates that there are consequences to the decisions children make and that the punishment is ââ¬Ëfairââ¬â¢ in regards to the rule break. It is important for the TA to be consistent in such situations. For example, if two children were to break the same rule it would be ââ¬Ëunfairââ¬â¢ to allow one to go unpunished, yet punishes the second child. This would result in a lack of respect from the children. Likewise, it would be ââ¬Ëunfairââ¬â¢ if a TA was to show favoritism. For example, if a TA was to allow their favorites to ââ¬Ëget away withââ¬â¢ things that they would punish other children for; this is ââ¬Ëunfairââ¬â¢. Ultimately, the relationship that a TA wants to establish with all the children is one of trust and respect. A relationship like this can not be created if a TA is unfair, inconsistent or shows favoritism. A TA should make an effort to learn all childrenââ¬â¢s names, how to pronounce them and also how to spell them. Again, this shows the child that the TA has taken a personal interest in them. On a professional level, it is very important to remember a childââ¬â¢s name.In the case of an emergency, i. e. a fire, it is necessary to know all of the children in the class and be able to put a name to a face in order to ensure the safety of the children. Not knowing a childââ¬â¢s name can hinder the amount of effective communication that you can have with that child (as shown in my own personal reflection. ) It also poses a problem when the TA needs to gain the attention of that child. For example, the child may need to be given an instruction or called across a busy playground. Being a positive role model contributes to the building of respectful and professional relationships with children. One of the attributes of being a positive role model is politeness. Being polite conveys to the children that they are respected. Politeness can also be used as a strategy for dealing with common situations that arise in the classroom. For example, children, especially young children, often ââ¬Ëtell talesââ¬â¢. It would be impossible for a TA to deal with all the ââ¬Ëtalesââ¬â¢ that are told during the day by numerous children. By being polite and saying ââ¬Ëthank you for telling meââ¬â¢, the TA has shown the child that they have listened to what they have said, even if they feel that no further action needs to be taken. It will often be the case that just being listened to will satisfy the child regards to that particular ââ¬Ëtaleââ¬â¢. Politeness is especially important when you consider that children mimic the behavior of adults. If a TA is polite and respectful to the children that they work with, there is more chance that the children will be polite and respectful in return. There are certain qualities that are useful in building valued and respectful relationships with children. An approachable TA makes it easier for children to come to them for help and support. A kind and patient TA allows a child to feel comfortable in their company. An encouraging TA may be able to illicit the best from the children, using encouraging language and gestures to spur the child on and then praising the child after the event. An impartial and reasonable TA will benefit all the children in the class, from the quiet child who needs encouragement to get involved to the child who knows all the answers. Giving all the children an equal chance, i. e. enabling all the children to answer questions, allows the child to know that they are all valued and respected equally, regardless of gender, religion and/or ability.

Marketing mix free essay sample
The marketing mix for a product is a major factor in influencing whether a business can sell it profitably. The marketing mix is made up of seven interrelated decisions ? the 7Ps. The four key ones are product, price, promotion (including advertising and packaging) and place (where and how a product will be sold to consumers). The other 3Ps largely relate to marketing services ââ¬â people, process and physical evidence. Consumers require the right product. This might be an existing product, an adaptation of an existing product or a newly developed one. The right price is important too. If set too low, then consumers may lose confidence in the productââ¬â¢s quality; if too high, then many will be unable to afford it. Promotion must be effective ââ¬â telling consumers about the productââ¬â¢s availability and convincing them that ââ¬Ëyour brandââ¬â¢ is the one to choose. Packaging is often used to reinforce this image. We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing mix or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Place refers to how the product is distributed to the consumer. If it is not available at the right time in the right place, then even the best product in the world will not be bought in the quantities expected. Selling services successfully requires people who can interact positively with customers and create the correct impression to encourage them to return. This is particularly relevant in the hotel and restaurant industry. The processes that a business has in place to satisfy customersââ¬â¢ wants reliably and consistently form an important part of marketing services. For example, banks replacing an out-of-date debit card without the customer having to ask for one. Physical evidence means allowing customers to see for themselves the quality of the service being provided. This will reduce the element of risk in buying a service as opposed to a tangible product. For example, a clean and well-presented reception area in a hotel would raise appropriate expectations in the mind of the customer. Not all of the 7Ps have the same degree of significance in every case. It is vital that these elements fit together into a coherent and integrated plan. An appropriate marketing mix will ensure that these marketing decisions are interrelated. They must be carefully coordinated to make sure that customers are not confused by conflicting messages being given about the good or service being sold. These are all examples of poorly integrated marketing decisions. The marketing strategies ââ¬â shown in bold ââ¬â lack integration with the rest of the marketing mix and are therefore inappropriate. If the messages consumers receive about a product are confused or lacking in focus, they may fail to recognize the true identity or ââ¬Ëpersonalityââ¬â¢ of the product. Consumers are likely to reject products where the marketing mix has not communicated a clear and unambiguous message, resulting in fewer long term sales. Marketing Mix free essay sample As the most popular electronics company among consumers in the world, Samsung owns a good reputation. Moreover, Samsung occupies more than 20% of total export in South Korea (Samsungish, 2010). Currently, the innovation and high quality of Samsungââ¬â¢s products are recognized by the whole world (SAMSUNG, 2010a). 1. 2 Theory 1. 2. 1 Market Segmentation Market segmentation means that businesses divide their markets into a few sections with similar features, so that they can target different groups of consumers and produce merchandise or service for them. Market segmentation is classified into four methods which are geography, demography, psychology and behaviors (Hall et al, 2008). Marketing mix Marketing mix is defined as ââ¬Å"those elements of a firmââ¬â¢s marketing strategy which are designed to meet the needs of its customersâ⬠. There are four factors which are called 4Ps, and they are product, price, promotion, and place (Hall et al, 2008:75). Aims The objective of this report is to analyze the differences of the market segmentation and marketing mix of LG and SAMSUNG. We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing Mix or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Findings LG LG, a well-known brand around the world, is to sell TVs to rural areas in China (Articlesbase, 2010). Home appliances such as TVs, washing machines, and refrigerators are LG electronicsââ¬â¢ major products (LG Electronics, 2010). In addition, LG is adept in using advertisements to attract shoppers (Pakistan amp; Gulf Economist, 2005). SAMSUNG Similarly, Samsung sells its products in the world. It not only sells to cities but also rural areas. In order to privilege consumers, Samsung holds promotional events to attract shoppers. However, Samsung has some products which LG does not produce, such as PC peripherals, print solutions, and memory cards (SAMSUNG, 2010b). Discussion Market segmentation LG An obvious way of segmenting market is geography. LG Electronics sells its merchandise spread all over the world, especially well-known countries, for example, LG digital television in China. Yucheng Zheng (2010), the CEO of LG Electronics (China) Co. , Ltd. , reported that LG launched a project to promote digital television in rural area in China. LG targets at the rural market and provides digital TVs and home applicants for rural consumers. The emphasis of rural segment is ââ¬Å"price competitivenessâ⬠. LG is going to reduce the price of its products so that it can develop well (Articlesbase, 2010). SAMSUNG Samsung focuses on rural area as well, for example, the Samsung color TV in rural area and urban area of China. This segment involves ââ¬Å"mass market, low- and medium-end units to rural customers or high-end products to urban customersâ⬠(EssayForStudent, n. d). To deal with an extensive product line, a mass market capacitates Samsung to satisfy consumer needs. Because Samsung enters China market late, it faces challenges to be succeeded in mass market. Furthermore, the rural market, which is approximately 80% of the whole market, is aimed by Samsung via the ââ¬Å"low-end unitsâ⬠. However, because of the previous businesses of ââ¬Å"low-cost, low-end color TVsâ⬠, Samsung had to exploit a new ââ¬Å"high-end TVsâ⬠in urban market. With the remarkable improvement of peoples living standard, the quantity of high-end TVs in urban market in China is increasing though the segment is not big (EssayForStudent, n. d). Marketing Mix LG Product LG pays attention to upper and upper middle classes and provides products for those consumers. High quality and good service of LG products are so progressive that products are output to developed countries (Pakistan amp; Gulf Economist, 2005). LG Electronics (2010) in China shows that the products include TV audio video, mobile phones, home appliances, IT products, and air conditioning (LG Electronics, 2010). Price The pricing strategy of LG is ââ¬Å"cost plus fixed mark upâ⬠. Following the pricing policy, LGââ¬â¢s formula is ââ¬Å"import cost + reasonable gross profitâ⬠. The formula is used to cover the market cost and make profits in any market including China (Pakistan amp; Gulf Economist, 2005). An LGââ¬â¢s cell phone called Lollipop cost RMB 2,000 in 2009, when it first appeared in China. Promotion One effective way of promotion is advertisement. As a famous brand, LG advertises its products to get promoted (Pakistan amp; Gulf Economist, 2005). LG is accustomed to inviting famous stars to advertise its merchandise. For instance, Kim Tae-Hee, a famous actress, advertised for LG mobile phone and camera. Her advertisements attract young shoppers in China to buy relative merchandise. Place LGââ¬â¢s merchandise is sold throughout the world, especially developed regions. There are numbers of LG retailers in big cities including Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. In addition, LG sells its products in home appliance interlink retail enterprises such as Suning and Gome in China. SAMSUNG Product As same as LG, Samsung also provides mobile devices, TV audio video and home appliances for Chinese shoppers. However, there are some products that LG lacks, such as camera camcorder, PC peripherals, print solutions, and memory cards (SAMSUNG, 2010b). Moreover, ââ¬Å"focusing on the future of wireless communications, Samsung launched futuristic products such as the mobile hone watch, the PDA-phone, the digital camera cum mobile phone, the MP3 mobile phone and its latest model of 3G mobile phoneâ⬠(123HelpMe, 2010). Price The price of Samsung products is similar with LG. For example, Samsung F480 Mobile Phone, which has ââ¬Å"223 MB Memory, 5 Mega-Pixel Camera with 4 X Digital Zoomâ⬠, cost RMB 993-RMB 2,325. Another example, ââ¬Å"Samsung UA40C7000 40 3 D LED TV, which is 40 Screen, Full HD, High Definition, Widescreen, HDMI, Internet, and 1920 x 1080 pixelsâ⬠, cost RMB 9,320- RMB 15,656 (MyShopping, n. d. ). Promotion Samsung constantly holds sales promotional events. For example, recently, there is an event called ââ¬Å"Samsung Smart TV Promotionâ⬠in HongKong. Customers can get a ââ¬Å"FREE Samsung 1TB external Hard Drive and 3D Starter Gift Pack upon purchasing eligible model of 3D LEDTV and 3D LCD TVâ⬠from 16th October to 30th November (SAMSUNG, 2010c). The promotion is able to help Samsung expand its sales. Place Samsung sells its products by retailers and home appliance interlinks retail enterprises Suning and Gome as well as LG. Nevertheless, Samsung not only sells products in cities, but also in countryside. Samsung in China took part in a policy named ââ¬Å"home appliances to rural areasâ⬠in 2009. This policy was to add profits to the masses that lived in rural areas. Samsung was one of the companies that help rural people improve their living standard. Conclusion In short, the report involves the background of the two competitive companies, theory of market segmentation and marketing mix and comparison between the two companies. Via discussing market segmentation and marketing mix of LG and Samsung, the superiorities of the two companies are obvious to be found. The general strength of Samsung is better than LG, so LG has to be enhanced. Recommendation According to the analyses above, LG is recommended to improve its promotional events so that there will be more consumers to purchase its merchandise. Furthermore, LG is supposed to expand the range of its products to different fields. However, Samsung should classify its segmentation more clearly. As a result, if the two companies reduce the price, the demand of their electronic products will increase. Borden published his article in 1964, The Concept of the Market Mix. He later began teaching this term in the late 1940ââ¬â¢s. The ingredients in Bordenââ¬â¢s marketing mix included product planning, pricing, branding, distribution channels, personal selling, advertising, promotions, packaging, display, servicing, physical handling, and fact finding and analysis. Not long after E. Jerome McCarthy grouped these ingredients into four categories that today are known as the four Pââ¬â¢s of Marketing. Some examples are promotional strategy, advertising, sales promotions, public relations publicity, marketing communication budget and so forth (NetMBA, 2008). TiVo is a brand of digital video recorder that offers numerous functions far advanced than the regular VCR or DVD player. The TiVo recorder has the ability to pause and replay live TV as well as an array of flexible ecording services that is personalized for the consumers. The adoption of TiVo when it was first released was facilitated by the belief that consumers who owned a TiVo black box and subscribed to the TiVo service can take control of what programs to watch and when to watch them. The device attracted consumers who were tired of missing their favorite shows because they were too busy to watch them. TiVo also ena bled people to fast-forward over irreverent advertising. TV watchers can ââ¬Å"pauseâ⬠a live show to conveniently handle interruptions too. As shown above, the services that TiVo provides allow the consumer to be in control and makes TV viewing ââ¬Å"a lot more enjoyable. â⬠(Global Advertising Strategies, 2008) Television satellite provider DirecTV and TiVo have extended their current non-exclusive partnership to include the development of a new, high definition DirecTV digital video recorder (DVR). Locomotor Repsonse of Flesh Fly essays
Locomotor Repsonse of Flesh Fly essays Locomotor Behavior of Sarcophaga bullata in response to various light stimuli The species Sarcophaga bullata (flesh fly) is from the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda and Class Insecta. Flesh flies live all over the world, generally in warm, moist climates. The flesh fly goes through the process of complete metamorphosis that consists of four stages: egg, larva (=maggot), pupa, to adult in about eight days. Through these different stages of metamorphosis the flesh fly is a parasite and a self-sustaining organism until it reaches full maturity. The job for the fly is then to disperse the species and reproduce. Flesh flies can be both pests and important aspects to human lives. They help in biological research and in criminal investigations but they also carry diseases that can harm humans. The locomotor response is greatly dependent on inherited behavior also known as innate behavior. This means that the stimulus appears to trigger a fixed response that does not vary according to the previous experience of the organism, commonly found in invertebrates. Two terms, taxis and kinesis can describe innate locomotor responses. Taxis is an automatic movement directly toward or away from a stimulus. Kinesis is random movement, caused by a stimulus but not necessarily oriented by it. The ability for a flesh fly to reproduce is greatly dependent on light and temperature. Flesh flies are dependent on light and temperature. They completely develop before the food supply is exhausted; the rate at which the flesh flies develop is one of the most important factors in determining both the survival and reproductive success of the flesh fly larvae. Warm, long days and lots of sunlight increases the rate at which larvae develop into pupae and most successively into adult flies. The female flesh fly deposits the living larvae into decaying flesh of dead animals or feces. This is the stage where they are specialized for feeding and ...

Instructional Strategies for English Language Learners Classrooms Essay - 1
Instructional Strategies for English Language Learners Classrooms - Essay Example Various strategies to include the students' background into instruction and to build the students' vocabulary are also elaborated. Finally, some strategies to ensure that students stay engaged in the instruction are elaborated on. In an era of rapidly changing demographics, teachers have to cope with classrooms which have a diverse spectrum of students. The number of English Language Learners (ELLs) in mainstream schools is ever increasing. In the year 2000-2001, about 4.6 million ELLs attended school in the U.S. from the kindergarten to grade 12. This figure approximates nearly 9.3% of the total student enrollment in public schools. (Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory, 2003).Owing to this rising increase in ELL students in classrooms, it is more important than ever for teachers to be equipped to cope with the challenge of instructing a culturally and linguistically diverse group of students. There are certain instructional strategies that teachers have to employ in educating ELL students. Very often, the age and language group of learners play a role in the effective selection of instructional strategies. For example, a native speaker of Japanese may face more difficulties with English than a native speaker of France, because French is more closely related to English as compared to Japanese. The age group that the child belongs to also plays a role in the selection of instructional strategies. ... They are open to exploration and respond well to activities that spark their imagination. On the other hand, adolescents and older ELLs are more willing to engage in abstract thinking. They have certain life experiences which they can draw on and also may have formed or may be in the process of forming certain individual learning patterns. For such learners, instructors can discuss abstract issues, provoke intellectual activity by making them aware of contrasting ideas and concepts which they can reason and resolve on their own. It also helps if language learning is closely related to the students' own everyday interests. The choice of instructional strategies for ELLs also depends upon the specific stage of second language acquisition the learner is in. The four stages of language acquisition are "preproduction, early production, speech emergence, and intermediate fluency" (Facella, Rampino, & Shea, 2005, 212). Learners in the preproduction stage of language acquisition spend a large part of their time listening to their teachers and may respond non-verbally to the teachers' queries. Instructional strategies that teachers can incorporate for learners in this stage are using yes/no questions, pictures, props and hands-on activities focusing on active student involvement. Learners in the early production stage of language acquisition also spend a large part of their time listening to their teachers. They may also work out one or two-word responses. Instructional strategies that teachers can adapt for learners in this stage of language acquisition include role plays, completing sentences, answering who, what or where questions with one-word responses. Older ELL learners may also be asked to label objects.Ã

Globalization Spread The Happiness Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Globalization Spread The Happiness - Essay Example ame time it should be noted that globalization has caused more problems in America than in any other countries in the form of economic crisis or recession. At the same time heavily populated countries like India, China, Brazil, Russia, Mexico etc have developed a lot after the introduction of globalization. In fact China is the number one exploiter of globalization at present even though it was reluctant in introducing globalization principles in its territories at the beginning. Supporters of globalization are of the view that globalization benefits the world through the promotion of such ideals as human rights, democracy, and freedom and that it enhances the prosperity of the world through free trade, free investment and better technology. à This paper argues that globalization brings happiness in the world and its drawbacks are negligible considering its advantages. Even though there are many reasons for supporting globalization, this paper limits its focus only to the economic, political and cultural benefits of globalization. Holst (2007) has pointed out that ââ¬Å"economic interpretations of globalization cantered around three forms of capital; financial, productive and commercial (Holst). Moreover, Dharam Ghai (1997) has pointed out that ââ¬Å"free market and private enterprise were the principal mechanisms for promoting economic activities in the sphere of economic globalizationâ⬠(Ghai, p.1). Cross cultural business have been increased a lot as a result of globalization. Imports and exports between different countries were also increased because of the liberalized rules implemented in many countries as part of globalization. Earlier, it was difficult for a company to establish a business unit in overseas countries. However, at present, many countries started to liberalize their rules for attracting foreign direct investment because of the late awareness that external capital is necessary to the economic development of a country. ââ¬Å"This is an era of
